In "Birthmarks", I messed up the contents of collected letters and structured them into a "pseudo-private story". I am creating the video to convey a young group 's telling and identity cognition in Asian/Chinese family interactions. In the plot, the shadow of the web like reflects on the skin and leaves "marks". With body motions, the shadow becomes visible and invisible as time passes. It even vanishes, and the soft water runs over the skin. In this video, I'd like to examine the complex interplay between family influence and self-identity consciousness via the collected collective memories. Reconsider the meaning of "birthmarks" in the context of intimacy.
在Birthmarks中,我将收集的信件重新打乱,重塑成一个“伪私人故事”。以私人化的叙述形式承载一个群体(当代年轻人)对于亚洲/中国家庭亲密关系的诉说和身份认同。视频中的画面是网状结构的影子随着太阳日照映射在身体,留下“印迹”。随着时间的变化,影子也在发生改变,甚至完全消失,留下细微的水流随着身体涌动。在作品中,我以一个集体回忆去思考家庭影响与个体身份认知的复杂关系,以及“胎记”一词在亲密关系中的重新定义。

The installation consists of a group of chairs and a table. I hid the video under the table and only peeped at it through the crevice in the center. The physical proximity of the audience would evoke psychological feelings of intimacy and distance.
展览装置由一套桌椅组成,我将视频藏进桌子里面,只能通过桌面上的裂口观看视频。希望观者通过身体的靠近来感受心理的亲密和疏离。
