SINING ZHU 

I traveled to the San Andreas Fault along the shores of California's Salton Sea, where the North American and Pacific tectonic plates remain in constant motion. Following the fault line, I established six sampling sites at three-kilometer intervals and excavated the ground at each site using only my hands. Confronted with the slow yet continuous movement of the tectonic plates, the body can neither control nor fully comprehend geological change. Instead, through the repetitive act of digging, it becomes a way of sensing time, scale, and our relationship to the land.

我来到加州索尔顿海（Salton Sea）岸边的圣安德烈亚斯断层，这里是北美板块与太平洋板块持续运动的交界处。沿着断层线，我每隔三公里设立一个采样点，共六处，并凭双手向地下挖掘。面对缓慢却持续发生的板块运动，身体无法控制、也无法完整理解地质变化，而是在反复的挖掘中，成为感知时间、尺度与土地关系的一种方法。
